Our Program's Success

Since it’s founding the Achievement Academy of Durham has:

  • Graduated 48 high risk students with their North Carolina High School Equivalency Diploma
  • Equipped all eligible graduates with financial aid for post-secondary education
  • Supported 14 students into and through their post-secondary education
  • 4 Post-secondary graduates

While other GED programs exist, none have the track record that we do. Before founding the Achievement Academy, director, Sandee Washington spent six years developing and honing a program that worked to help students dramatically increase reading levels and develop the skills and high degree of self-discipline necessary to attain their North Carolina High School Equivalency Diploma quickly. Perhaps more importantly, our students graduate from community college with nationally recognized certifications in specific programs or two-year degrees.

One day I went to the grocery store with my kids and never came back. I thank God for giving me the strength and courage to remove my children and myself from that horrible situation.
