ACES Health and Wellness Elective
Five ambitious AAD students–Kiara Overby, Keano Deberry, Jimmy Coleman, Keon Humphrey, Marcellas Alston, and Timaya Bowens–participated in the Achieving Career and Educational Success (ACES) elective, which focused on career exploration in the health and wellness field.
The students applied career research skills to learn about health challenges such as anxiety, chronic pain, and insomnia. They focused on a career related to this health area and researched the required education as well as potential programs at North Carolina colleges and universities. Several guest speakers from the community visited the class to share their experiences in various health and wellness careers. Finally, they showcased their findings at our student-led health fair. The students earned a small stipend and showcased their dedication to strengthening their focus on future career goals.
